RV Life – week 8 – Oregon

You guys! We found our happy place, and that place is Oregon. More specifically, it is Pacific City!

You probably have never heard of it since they take great strides to keep it a secret.

So SHHHHHHHH, don’t tell anyone that we were there, we fell in love and desperately want to return.

Pacific City is a small town with a small town vibe.

The waves are perfect for all levels of surfing, you are surrounded by state parks that have epic sand boarding, more whales than you could imagine (including Orcas!) and on the weekends everyone comes to the beach, brings their supper and has a bonfire.

They even bring their own fireworks and set them off all along the beach.

It’s pretty magical seeing all the fires dot the coast line with the odd burst of colour erupting in the sky.

You are also allowed to drive on the beach here, something that we have always wanted to try since being in Australia.

It’s popular there too! So we thought, this is our chance! What could possibly go wrong?

We slowly guided our 4×4 onto the sand and bring it down to the beach packed with our bbq and a full days worth of food.

Let me tell you, after the few weeks we have been having, I have never been so stressed out in my entire life. I KNEW something was going to go wrong. Let’s be honest, we don’t have a great track record at the moment.

I really wanted to enjoy the day, but we finally cracked and drove our car back up to the parking lot after getting stuck multiple times in the soft sand with our worn down tires.

We ticked that box, and have decided that we don’t enjoy it. Never again!

The beach day was far more enjoyable with our car safely parked up on the concrete rather than on the sand.

Oregon is an amazing state – our favourite by far!

Our campground is right on the beach, just a short walk into town.

It couldn’t have come at a better time.

We were feeling pretty exhausted and discouraged and Oregon has renewed our spirits and love for RV life.

We loved it so much we almost cracked and changed all of our plans so that we could spend the entire 14 days here.

But alas… California is beckoning and winter is hot on our heels.

Away we go!
