Around the world in 273 days

Have you heard the news?! The 5 Globetrotters are taking on the WORLD!!

So how exactly are we going to do this you may ask? Well, let me
break it down for you (since you know I love to share all our little
secrets!)

Remember when we sold our “forever home” last year? Well at the time, we had a dream and we knew that selling the home was the first step.

Don’t get me wrong, it was not easy to walk away from this house. Despite the fact that we seem to move houses every year (Bryan is a Realtor which seems to come with the occupational hazard of uprooting your family every year or two when a great deal comes along) this was a tough pill to swallow.

We LOVED this house, but our end game was always to break free from our financial handcuffs and to just live simply. Work less, travel more!

We spotted a duplex in an excellent neighbourhood not too far from where we were and set our sights on restoring the shittiest house on the block (true words, it is weird). We planned to live in one and rent out the other side giving us some additional income.

We got right to work on our renovations and started to transform the spaces. Despite the word on the street, we saw a ton of potential with this house, it just need some love and a TON of work.

I love a good challenge and when the doors kept opening, we just kept walking through them, almost having no idea what on Earth we were doing.

We traded in our 3,000 square feet for 1,000 square feet and so far, we have not missed the lost space for a second.

5 months (1500 hours of sweat equity) later and we had two beautiful little 3 bedroom apartments!

Not even 2 weeks after we moved into our shittiest house on the block new home, 1 way tickets to Ireland for $99 came on sale (from Detroit no less, which is definitely not normal).

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone”

Here’s the thing, there is no easy way of chasing your dream. Especially when 99% of the population thinks your “crazy” (including some outspoken peers) for not pursuing the American Dream.

There will never be a good time, plain and simple. “Sometimes we need to think less, talk less and just make it happen.” If something is important to you, really important, go make it happen.

So what now?!

A round the world trip!!

Our maximum budget for the 9 months abroad is only $20,000 {usd} for 5 people including flights from Canada (don’t worry, I will share it all 😉).  That includes all accommodations, flights, car rentals. E-very-thing.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am not talking pennies here. But if you are following my 5 steps to afford travel you are going to have your vacay money in no time. Plus, we are going for 9 months! Go for less time and it will cost you a fraction of that ðŸ‘Š

Our goal is to really soak up our time abroad. For this reason, we are going to be skipping some of the major destinations and opting for more of the path less travelled. Not only is this saving us some major dough, but to be honest, we aren’t city people. Put us outside with a coffee in our hand and a trail in front of us, and we are as happy as can be.

Well maybe not ALL the major destinations ðŸ˜‰

Ist Tip 👉 You all know how much I love my house swapping! We have house swapped every single one of our destinations saving us an approximate $35,000!! Not only are we scoring some beautiful houses, but we are even getting some car exchanges out of the deal saving another $8,000

2nd Tip 👉 Thanks to our amazing CabinZero bags, we will be travelling carryon only and skipping all the additional fees that those budget airlines like to charge you. Ryanair, I love your $23 ticket prices, but I hate your $60 checked bag fee.

So where are we going, what are we going to do and how are we going to do it? Well you are just going to have to subscribe to our blog to find out more! We are going to show you how ANYONE can do it. Yes, even you!

Happy travels friends, xoxo
